How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when using a scissor lift, since the convenience of working and the lift basket's safety provides peace of mind when trying to perform tasks which would have otherwise needed working off the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machinery make it the right option for completing jobs from heights.
Most scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries that have been mounted directly onto the machinery. These batteries will need to be charged following a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is a simple task to charge the batteries. This can be carried out without any particular equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
The equipment has to be positioned near an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place should also be in a well-ventilated place. Next, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button located inside the basket of the lift, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Often, older models would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
After that, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in an area that is well ventilated and afterward plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place when in use, extreme danger could potentially occur.
