Various Classes of Aerial Lift
A particular type of heavy machine that enables a person to be raised into the air is aerial lifts. These machinery are normally used to perform repairs on areas that are high up in the air like on roofs, near power lines and street-light fixtures. Similar to the majority of tools, there are various types of aerial lifts which can be used to complete a variety of jobs. For the utmost safety, each type of different type of machinery requires proper training and specific qualifications before using it.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are often referred to as Genie lifts. They are considered the most basic form of aerial lift. These lifts are made of a platform which is raised up using pneumatic power and are mainly used for indoor applications. Usually, scissor lifts are the safest type of lift models. When completely compressed, these scissor lifts are capable of being driven similar to big carts. Generally, when the platform is extended, they can not be driven for safety reasons. Before anyone can use these devices, workers must be certified as operators.
Boom Lifts
Compared to a scissor lift, boom lifts are much more complex pieces of aerial lift machinery. A boom lift has a wide base in order to keep the lift anchored. It utilizes a jointed arm that has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box located in the bucket which enables the operator to hoist and lower the bucket. Because the arm of the boom is jointed, it could also move from side to side. The boom lift looks like a tail of a metal scorpion. Traditionally, it is utilized in construction applications outdoors. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to run compared to scissor lifts, thus, operators should be licensed individually for these types of lifts.
