Types of Boom Lifts or Construction Lifts
A boom lift is a piece of machine which allows employees to carry out tasks without having to build a scaffolding. They are used to do maintenance work, to work on elevated structures and are common machines found in factory and warehouse environment also.
Boom lifts will usually provide powered and wheeled bases which can drive itself to the work place and have a platform on them to elevate the employees. There are many various kinds of lifts and every one is suited to different tasks and settings.
Bucket Trucks
Bucket trucks, that are often referred to as "cherry-pickers", carry a long boom that has a bucket attached at the end. This bucket area is where an employee may stand. Usually, bucket trucks are used by landscapers and by utility workers. Landscapers usually utilize these equipment to cut trees.
Each and every bucket truck has a boom assembly mounted to a standard truck, which allows these vehicles to move swiftly on normal roads. Also, this increases the area which this machine can service efficiently. This is particularly essential for power companies. For example, many of these businesses utilize cherry pickers to elevate employees up so they can reach and work on transmission lines. The buckets should be frequently inspected and well insulated since they are working close to possible shock hazards.
Articulated boom lifts are also referred to as "knuckle lifts", and have a work platform that is mounted on an arm that can bend in order to reach around obstacles. The base of the lift includes a turntable and is capable of turning the lift in a full circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels as well for extra mobility.
Articulated boom lifts are utilized for landscaping projects and are handy for maintenance work on already-finished projects which do not need easy access to the area right below the jobsite. These lifts can be used for exterior electrical work and to repair piping, as well as areas that are difficult to clean. Usually knuckle lifts are driven by the worker in the platform with the boom extended.
